Italy Travel Restrictions: Requirements for Tourists
The Italian national tourism board provides information for tourists about Italy travel restrictions including quarantine requirements and regulations for entering Italy as a tourist.

Currently for tourists to Italy from the US and Canada, there is no quarantine upon arrival if the following requirements are met:
- Complete the Passenger Locator Form before entering Italy.
- Present a paper or digital certificate from US or Canadian health authorities (can be in English, French or Spanish), considered a “green pass,” that certifies one of the following:
- complete vaccination against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to entry with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency (Pfizer/Comirnaty, Moderna/Spikevax, AstraZeneca/Vaxzevria, Janssen/Johnson & Johnson);
-OR- - recovery from COVID-19 and completion of medical isolation;
-AND- - negative result from a rapid PCR test carried out within 72 hours prior to entry, or 48 hours if transited through or stayed in the UK, or a negative result on an antigen test carried out 24 hours prior to entry. (Children under age 6 exempt).
- complete vaccination against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to entry with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency (Pfizer/Comirnaty, Moderna/Spikevax, AstraZeneca/Vaxzevria, Janssen/Johnson & Johnson);
Travelers from the US and Canada who do not arrive with both the vaccination certificate or recovery certificate AND the negative test result will be required to undergo a five-day quarantine.
Currently for tourists to Italy from Britain, there is no quarantine upon arrival if the following requirements are met:
- Complete the Passenger Locator Form before entering Italy.
- Present a digital certificate with QR code from UK health authorities considered a “green pass,” that certifies complete vaccination against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to entry with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency (Pfizer/Comirnaty, Moderna/Spikevax, AstraZeneca/Vaxzevria, Janssen/Johnson & Johnson).
- Present proof of a negative result from a molecular or antigen test performed within 48 hours prior to entering Italy (children under age 6 exempt).
Travelers from the UK who do not arrive with both the vaccination certificate AND the negative test result will be required to undergo a five-day quarantine.
